It is particularly useful where a robust, cost-effective finish is required. The correct specification depends on the condition of the roof deck and the complexity of the roof.

EPDM is a flexible rubber membrane that works well on many simple, uninterrupted flat-roof areas. It provides a clean finish with relatively few seams and is resistant to weathering when the deck and roof details are prepared correctly.

We assess outlets, roof edges, penetrations and adjoining surfaces before deciding whether EPDM is the most suitable system for a particular property.

GRP fibreglass creates a strong, seamless surface and can be a good choice for roofs with suitable decking and straightforward detailing. Its smooth, rigid finish is available with trims designed for roof edges, outlets and adjoining walls.

As with every flat-roof system, the quality of the preparation and detailing matters as much as the chosen material.

There is no single material that is best for every flat roof. We consider the roof’s size and shape, existing structure, drainage, access, adjoining details, expected use and budget before recommending torch-on felt, EPDM rubber, GRP fibreglass or a targeted repair.
