Roofing services across West Cumbria
Acton & Fox LTD provides pitched roof repairs, re-roofing and new roof installations for homes and commercial properties across West Cumbria. Based in Whitehaven, we work in Workington, Egremont, Cleator Moor, Maryport, Cockermouth and surrounding areas.
Whether you need repairs to an existing roof, a complete replacement or roofing for a new build or extension, we can help you choose suitable materials and explain the work involved.
Roof repairs, replacements and new roofs
A damaged roof does not always need a complete replacement. We assess the existing roof and discuss whether repairs or re-roofing are the appropriate next step.
Our pitched roofing work includes slate and tile replacement, repairs, full re-roofing and new roofs for extensions and new builds. We work on residential and commercial properties, matching the approach to the roof and the project.
Slate, tile and synthetic roofing
We work with traditional slate, modern roof tiles and fibre cement products. Our material experience includes Westmorland Green Slate, Burlington Blue-Grey, Penrhyn and Cwt-y-Bugail Welsh slate, along with Spanish slate from Cupa Pizarras and SSQ.
Tile options include Marley Ashmore, Ludlow Major, Edgemere, Duo Edgemere and Double Roman, as well as Finkenberg interlocking tiles. We can discuss options that suit your property’s appearance and roofing requirements.
An experienced local roofing team
Acton & Fox brings over 30 years of combined experience in the building trades to roofing projects across West Cumbria. Our City & Guilds qualified tradesmen work with a wide range of pitched roofing materials.

I used Acton and Fox for a building I was renovating for a charity. The best I can say is that if I were to ever need work done again including on my own property I would go back to Acton and Fox. John Acton was easy to deal with, never felt like I was hassling him, the workmanship was excellent and where they could help, such as a small modification to my guttering they did. Really good workmanship and really good customer service.
Update: I have indeed used Acton and Fox a second time this time for my mother’s roof. Once again they were excellent, a completely hassle free experience and great workmanship. Brilliant with my mam and kept me up to date on what they were doing.
